SIMON & FRIENDS EXHIBITION, PORTO

“Craft is potentially a starting point for a new humanism, where the human being is at the centre of our priorities.”

-Luis De Oliveira, co-founder of De La Espada

On November 16, an exhibition entitled ‘Simon & Friends’ opens at our Porto gallery, welcoming 10 new products born of collaboration between Simon Kämpfer, principal of our creative think tank Atelier, and 10 artisan partners, with the support of our research and development team, De La Espada Studio, led by André Silva. A continuation of our research into, and support of, generations-old craft traditions in our home country.

The Simon & Friends exhibition captures the spirit of creative collaboration: the warmth of interpersonal relationships built, and the elevated products born from shared time and expertise.

Featuring the work of 10 artisans across Portugal and into Spain specialising in textile- and basket weaving; metalworking; wood carving and turning; ceramics; and cork, the products are contemporary expressions of heritage craft with the vision and engineering of De La Espada.

Our Porto gallery, opened 2 years ago to spotlight contemporary craft, is a natural home for this exhibition, positioned in the heart of Porto's arts district, just an hour from our workshop.
